Bite-Size Research

The Guide to the National Quality Standard (ACECQA, 2025) requires educators to engage with a range of current research as part of their decision-making. With this offering from EYES, we are here to help. We love research, but we love more how teams engage with research and use their professional judgement in response to this research.

What you get: We’ve done some of the hard work for you, we summarise the content, participants, context, measures, finding, discussion and identify limitations. But here’s the really good bit- we also provide appropriate links to sector documents; provocation questions to use to generate discussion with the team; some useful quotes for use in documentation / policy documents / newsletters etc; and suggested further reading-all in a few pages!

Together, as a team, you then have a number of different options-accept the research and begin to implement appropriate suggestions; consider and adapt the research to suit your context; reject it as unsuitable; or continue to research the ideas and see where it leads. There are no right or wrong ways here, the important thing is you are meeting the requirements of the NQS and use this to inform your decision-making. We provide the range, you engage with it. 12 parts of contemporary research can equal one for each staff meeting of the year!

Early Years Education Specialists (EYES) evolved after a few years and lots of cups of tea as we pondered our own experiences in the education and care sector, and took time to respond to the changes, challenges, trends and shifts in understanding as dedicated professionals.

Our combined expertise, longevity in the sector and our commitment to life-long learning led us to working with preservice educators; emerging leaders and very experienced ones looking for support; and whole teams of all service types.

We value practical application of our sector documents, innovation and evidence-based practice. We support those in the sector to use their professional judgement in decision-making within their unique service context.
